Board Texture Analysis: Wet vs Dry Boards

Board texture determines the optimal strategy for both the bettor and defender.

Dry Boards

Dry boards have few possible draws and favor the preflop raiser.

**Examples**: K-7-2 rainbow, A-3-8 with no flush draw

**Strategy**: Small c-bets (25-33% pot) with your entire range

**Why**: No draws to protect against, and the raiser has more strong hands

Wet boards have many possible draws and create more complex situations.

**Examples**: J-T-8 with two hearts, Q-9-7 with a flush draw

**Strategy**: Larger bets (50-75% pot) with a polarized range (strong hands + bluffs)

**Why**: Need to charge draws and protect strong hands

**Static**: Hand values are unlikely to change on later streets (e.g., A-K-2 rainbow)

**Dynamic**: Hand values can change dramatically (e.g., J-T-9 two-tone)

Always analyze the board texture before deciding on your strategy. The same hand can be played very differently on different boards.
