Stratégie Small Blind : pourquoi SB suit moins et 3-bet ou se couche plus

Short Answer

SB usually calls less against opens because it is out of position postflop and BB can still squeeze or call. A cleaner structure is to 3-bet strong hands and selected blockers, then fold many marginal hands.

SB's Structural Disadvantage

SB has posted only 0.5bb, but it acts first postflop. Unlike BB, it does not receive the same pot-odds discount from a full blind already invested, and it still must account for BB behind.

Why 3-Bet Matters

3-betting takes initiative, reduces multiway pots, and forces some marginal opens to fold. SB 3-bets need more raw strength, while bluff candidates often use suited aces, suited kings, or playable suited connectors.

When Calling Can Exist

If rake is low, BB does not squeeze much, and the open size is small, SB can keep a limited calling range. This should be a reasoned exception rather than the default.

Common Mistakes

The biggest SB leak is cold calling too many cheap-looking hands and then guessing out of position. Their realization often fails to cover the entry cost.

Questions frequentes

Pourquoi SB ne suit-il pas aussi large que BB ?
SB n'a posté que 0,5bb, est hors position et a toujours BB derrière. BB a posté 1bb et clôture l'action préflop.
