Population tendencies are the aggregate leaks of the player pool. Understanding them allows you to exploit the average opponent without specific reads.

Common Population Leaks

**Over-folding rivers**: Most players fold too much to river bets

**Under-bluffing rivers**: Most players don't bluff enough on the river

**Calling too wide preflop**: Many players defend their blinds too loosely

**C-betting too frequently**: Automatic c-betting without considering board texture

**Over-valuing top pair**: Playing top pair like it's the nuts

How to Exploit

**Bet bigger on the river**: Since opponents under-fold and under-bluff, your value bets are more profitable

**Bluff more on scare cards**: Population folds too much when obvious draws complete

**Check-raise more flops**: Many players auto-c-bet and fold to raises

**3-bet wider against late position opens**: Population opens too wide from late position

**Tracking software**: Database analysis reveals frequency deviations

Balancing Exploitation

While exploiting population tendencies is profitable, be aware that:

**Strong players will counter-adjust**: If you over-exploit, good players will notice
